How do I know that Laser Skin Resurfacing is right for me?
- Scientiphika Med Spa’s Erbium:YAG laser is a clinically proven, minimally-invasive skin resurfacing technique that effectively treats many skin conditions including reversing sun damage, treating fine lines and wrinkles, diminishing hyperpigmentation on the face, neck, decollete, and hands, as well as eliminating types of solitary skin lesions.
- Alekandra Predota, APRN-PC, FNP-C, owner of Scientiphika Med Spa, acquired the Erbium Laser specifically because it is one of the most effective ways to treat the lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds) and eyes (crow’s feet)!
- In addition, the Erbium Laser offers unique advantages to Scientiphika Med Spa’s patients: a reduced need for topical numbing cream prior to treatment, a shorter healing time, reduced erythema, less risk of pigmentary changes, and more flexibility for facial skin resurfacing.
- Unlike a CO2 laser, an Erbium laser is a gentler approach, offering a “micro laser peel.”
What can I expect during my Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment?
- 30 to 45 minutes before your treatment begins, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to mitigate any discomfort.
- As a safer, more accurate, and less painful method of skin resurfacing, the treatment typically lasts 20 minutes.
How long before I will see results from my Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment?
- Mild (redness) can last for a few hours up to a few days, depending on the intensity of the treatment – similar to a mild sunburn.
- Recovery times will vary depending on your treatment intensity and area of the body. The treated skin should begin sloughing off within 2-3 days after treatment, revealing a rosy glow that can remain for several weeks.
- In about one week, the top layer of skin will regenerate, and you will begin seeing noticeable improvements in your skin’s texture, tone, fine lines, and wrinkles.
- At approximately this same time you may begin applying facial makeup as well.
- Deep treatments stimulate the growth of new collagen over the following 4 to 6 months, giving you a gradually improving natural-looking appearance that doesn’t look like you’ve “had something done”!
FAQ's
The Erbium Laser resurfacing treatment is designed to remove superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck and chest, as well as remove the layer of dead skin.
Because water is such a critical component in skin tissue, the Erbium Laser’s 2940 nm wavelength is capable of rapidly vaporizing water residing in the skin. This unique wavelength delivers an almost instant skin ablation (removal of the outer layer of skin) while limiting heat damage in the surrounding area. Different than a CO2 laser, the Erbium Laser is a gentler resurfacing tool that polishes the skin and can achieve superior resurfacing results.
Alekandra Predota, APRN-PC, FNP-C, owner of Scientiphika Med Spa will consult with you prior to treatment to be sure your skin condition is compatible with the desired results. Although the Erbium Laser is typically effective on all skin types, it cannot be used on tanned skin. Patients should avoid direct exposure to the sun and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.
Yes, Erbium laser skin resurfacing stimulates collagen reorganization and fibroblast activation, particularly in photoaged skin.
